Foundation Stage 1

Welcome to Foundation Stage 1.
F1 into F2 Transition
Over the next couple of weeks your children will have the opportunity to visit their new classroom.
From Monday 26th June, F1 children who are going into F2 in September will visit the F2 classroom for storytime.
The following week, they will visit F2 for part of the session to look around and complete an activity.
This will help prepare them for whole school Transition Day on Wednesday 12th July.
If you have any questions about this, please speak to Mrs Jenkins or Miss Newton.
Welcome back to our final half term of the year.
We will be learning about dinosaurs, health eating and the seaside.
Healthy Week
During Healthy Week we took part in many health related events.
We learnt some ball skills whilst on an adventure, tasted some different fruit and vegetables and took part in sports day.

During Spring 2
We are spotting signs of spring.
The arrival of new animals and plants starting to grow.
We are going to look at babies, baby animals and eggs.
On Friday 17th March, we welcomed Nicola from the Williamson Art Gallery into our classroom.
She showed us how to create art by rolling a egg in paint. It was fun and we were proud of the colour work we created.
She also shared a story about things we can see at the Williamson Art Gallery and showed use a large egg. The egg was an ostrich egg.

In Spring 2 - Our class text was
Owl Babies by Martin Waddell. 
Terry from Moonshine Owl Sanctuary came to visit us.
We learnt about what owls like to eat and got to stroke 2 owls.
As a class  we looked at the book called 
Blue Penguin by Petr Horacek.
We are learning about penguins and friendship.
We have been learning a penguin song and dance.

We enjoyed tasting Chinese food on Friday 3rd February.

Foundation Years Trust
Every Friday morning between 9.00 and 10.30 the Foundation Years Trust is working with Foundation Stage 1 parents and children.
FYT Next Session: Friday 30th June
Come and join in the session.
Meet other parents and work with your child.
Learn Together.
All parents should now have had an invitation to join your child in class between 9.00 and 9.30 to learn together.

You can now buy a set of Numicon from Foundation Staff.
This is a very useful piece of equipment to support your child with Maths, today and through their school life.

In the first 3 weeks, in September, we settled in to our new school and learnt about
Nursery Rhymes.
What is your favourite Nursery Rhyme?

The BBC radio site has animations for many Nursery Rhymes, so follow the link below and enjoy singing with your child.
For poetry week, we have learnt 'Dingle Dangle Scarecrow'.

We have been learning about Autumn.
During the first week, we learnt about Harvest and began to spot signs of Autumn.
Have you been for a walk in the park or woods?
Did you manage to find the items on your treasure hunt list?
Thank you to the children who have collected autumn treasure and brought it in.
We will be using it this week to learn more about Autumn.
We have enjoyed reading the story Stanley's Stick by John Hegley.
It is about a boy called Stanley and the adventures he has with his stick.
