Clarification for Free School Meal Entitlement for Siblings

If an older sibling was assessed to be Free School Meals as at or before 31/03/2018 then they have protected status regardless of whether there is a change of circumstances with the parents.  If a child becomes eligible for free school meals at any point after 31/03/2018 they would again retain their protected status where as in the previous system their eligibility would have ended for all children.

If the circumstances of the parent change the original child (approved prior to 31/03/18) retains their Free School Meal status but a younger sibling application made after this date may not be eligible because they are being assessed as at the new financial situation of the parent.

So yes you can now have siblings with different eligibility status.

It’s not as clear cut as it used to be.

Issues with Free School Meal Vouchers

Parents/carers did not receive their eCodes

The eCode should be received within 4 days of the order being approved by the school. If it hasn’t been received in this timeframe, please check your junk mail folder (the email will be sent from noreply@edenred.co.uk or hello@email.edenred.co.uk).
