Personal, Social, Health and Economic Education (PSHEE)

Personal, Social, Health and Economic Education at Well Lane Primary School
'Be the change you want to see in the world.' Mahatma Ghandi.'
At WLPS our intent for PSHEE is to enable our children to become independent, responsible and healthy members of society. As a school we achieve this through our approach to the teaching and learning of British Values together with the support of the 'Jigsaw' scheme which provides us with a whole school framework. Our Curriculum allows children to become more aware of moral, social and cultural issues that they face whilst growing up as well as how they are developing personally and socially. As part of our work through 'Jigsaw' we hold circle time sessions in each class which are even more important due to the current situation we all find ourselves in and these provide opportunities for listening, help develop children's concentration, promote spoken language and teach children to learn new concepts and skills relevant to themselves, their community and their world. Furthermore, through visitors to the school, themed weeks and assemblies we teach children how to develop a sense of self worth, their rights and responsibilities and exactly what it takes to be a positive role model in school and in the wider community.
In previous years the school has used Go Givers to support the teaching of PSHEE but has recently adopted Jigsaw, a mindful approach.
