Physical Education

In Physical Education we develop a range of skills including team work, co-ordination and resilience.

Physical Education 2019-2020


At Well Lane pupils have one PE lesson a week. We also participate in the daily mile; go noodle, Fitness Fridays as well as active lessons, active play times and active lunchtimes. All pupils are encouraged to fully participate in all of the above. We celebrate sporting success.


Pupils take part in termly personal challenge competitions as well as intra (against each other) competitions and pupils in Years 3-6 take part in competitions against other schools.


PE Kit


Every child in Well Lane should have a PE kit. This must be in school every day. It is compulsory. 


Lessons may be taking place outside please ensure that pupils have trainers and jogging bottoms/jumpers.


The PE kit consists of a plain white t-shirt (or one with the Well Lane logo on), navy or black shorts (no pockets) and a pair of black pumps.  (Trainers are permitted in outdoor lessons)

PE kits are sent home at the end of each half term to be washed and must be returned on the first day back. Please ensure your child has one.


After school clubs.


In Autumn 1 Year 5/6 pupils were able to participate in a Netball Club. Whilst Years 1–3 could join Full of Beans – Athletics.


In Autumn 2 Years 3-6 pupils were able to participate in a Basketball Club.                                              Whilst Years 1–3 could join Full of Beans.


Mrs. Dowdeswell held a 'Cross Country Club' handing out certificates to participates as well as special ones for those who came 1st, 2nd and 3rd in their races.

Level 2 competitions.


In September a Year 5/6 Netball team competed in an inter-school competition at Well Lane Primary.


In October a Year 3/4 Basketball team took part in an inter-school competition at Somerville Primary.


Future inter-school competitions include Year 5/6 Volleyball, Year 3/4 Dodgeball, Key Stage 2  Tri golf and Year 5/6 Kwick Cricket.

The Body Coach, Joe Wicks, has teamed up with BBC Children in Need as their Schools Ambassador and they have created some excellent Move videos.
They are simple and quick to pick up and can be used any time you and your children want to get moving and get energised! Plus they are only 5 - 8 minutes long.
