Year 5

Welcome to Year 5

Autumn Term

Lots of exciting things have happened during the Autumn Term:

We took part in a Children's Parliament workshop alongside Year 6. We found this enjoyable and learnt a lot We have visited Rock Ferry Library and The Odeon Cinema to watch 'The House of Magic' a film about anti-bullying. We have then completed work on this theme. Examples of this work are now displayed along the KS2 corridor. We have looked at how we can keep ourselves safe online with Mr Parker and more recently we worked with ChildLine looking our right to be safe.

Out class author is David Walliams. We have loved reading books by him. We even took all the books by our class author from Rock Ferry Library. They didn’t have enough copies!

Our PE lesson is every Monday. We know how important it is to have the correct P.E kit.

Please make sure children bring in an appropriate P.E kit (plain t-shirt, shorts and trainers).

Remember to bring your inhaler to school every day!

Homework Club is available to Year 5 every Friday break time with Mrs Brewster. There is also another opportunity to attend a Homework Club during Thursday lunchtime with Mrs Parry.

Spring Term

During the Spring Term we have started to read short Mystery Stories from book called ‘Short’. Have you read any?

Our class novel is, ‘The Secret Garden’. We have also created our own secret gardens using the control APP Hopscotch. Go and have a look at our work. We had great fun!

Look out for pictures of our work. We have lots of great things to come!

Every week Miss Warwick sets us a 'Phonics Challenge'.  Listen to our alphabet song!

We practiced writing the graphemes using our cursive handwriting.  Next, we'll be collecting data about the most frequently used letters in the names of our class.
